RELOCATION
Fadi Essmaeel
So... here I was, all by myself in the middle of the night at my Southern-California self-storage unit, sifting through two decades-worth of paper documents and small domestic items. Every piece was a memory. I was under major time-pressure to finish sorting of the entire storage so that I may load the stuff onto a van and take elsewhere to be shipped to my new home. These tunes are the sounds of my thoughts as I was pulling pieces of my life out of boxes and folders.
Galilee/L.A.
Fadi Essmaeel
My family roots originate in Galilee, where we protected and farmed our land for generations. Olive orchards provided for our livelihood and defined our life rhythms and patterns. To this day, we see the olive tree as the symbol of our family heritage. It is here that I learned to appreciate the simple beauty of folk music. A unique soundtrack emerges from bustling modern village life and the occasional inner voice of past memories.
